The state government has decided to go solely with Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission to MBA courses from this year onwards. Following the proposal submitted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the state government has agreed to go with CMAT in a Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) board meeting on Thursday.
Sources from KEA confirmed the decision and said the communication regarding the same will be sent to AICTE by Friday. “From hereon, CMAT will be the single entrance test in the state and no other authorities are allowed to conduct any entrance exam for MBA courses,” said a source.
Until now, the entrance exam was conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and on that basis, KEA alloted seats. From 2013, CBSE, which is the executive and conducting authority, will have the sole rights. KEA will allot seats based on the rank list released by CBSE.
