The FINANCIAL — The latest class of part-time Global MBA students started their MBA journey in January at a global induction workshop.
Taking place at all our locations around the world – from Shanghai to Dubai to Miami, the face to face session concludes the programme’s comprehensive online induction process and is a great chance for each cohort to finally meet fellow classmates, faculty and staff.
As Manchester Business School said, each induction began with a series of presentations and ice breakers, followed by a ‘tallest tower’ bonding exercise where students competed to build a tower out of nothing but newspaper, sticky tape and an orange! The day drew to a close with networking sessions. In the spirit of the programme’s internationalism, a global ‘tallest tower’ champion will be announced once all the induction sessions have taken place.
Next, students tackled their first unit, ‘Global Events and Leadership’ – a two day programme introducing students to leadership development and analysis processes. Day one included group discussion of leadership books and a number of lectures; students were also tasked to prepare a presentation on a ‘real world’ case study in the evening, when the formal session was over.
Day two involved more lectures and culminated with students’ case study presentations. The project was assessed by two faculty members representing both commercial and academic audiences – the students’ first chance to blend academic theory with practical application.
