Berklee College of Music has long been a believer in online education, powerfully proving that point again Friday through a new partnership with Southern New Hampshire University.
SNHU’s College of Online and Continuing Education is working in conjunction with the newly-named Berklee Online to launch the nation’s first fully online MBA in Music Business.
Students will be tasked with completing nine SNHU courses in areas such as finance, managerial accounting, information technology and marketing strategy. They will then need to apply what they learned to the music industry through online courses with Berklee. The college is offering four classes: Music Business Structures and Strategies, Music Marketing Strategies, Music Business Finance and Music Business Leadership and Ethics.
Debbie Cavalier, Berklee’s vice president of online education, pointed to how swiftly the music industry has shifted in a press release, stating, “The online MBA in Music Business provides the perfect opportunity to gain a thorough business background that is completely suited to help enterprising students forward the evolution of the new music business.”
With 39 credit hours to complete, students worldwide can receive their MBA in 21 months by taking two courses per 11-week term. The first term begins on September 23, 2013.
SNHU has grown to become the largest online degree providers in New England, and was named one of the world’s 50 most innovative companies by Fast Company last year. Serving as the only university on the list, SNHU was touted “for relentlessly reinventing higher education online and off.”
With Berklee, SNHU will be able to take their program one step further.
