JAMSHEDPUR: The three-day mega inter-school fest, ‘Valhalla 2013′, starting from July 26 will witness the would-be mangers of IIM Calcutta, IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur, SIBM Pune, XIM Bhubaneswar and host Xavier Management School, Jamshedpur join the party for some peppy numbers, fun, food and sports. They will also work towards the greater good for society and for people less fortunate.
The host institute has joined hands with the Bangalore-based micro-finance company, Milaap, which will use the funds raised from the event to provide loans to poor people with an aim to make them self-reliant.
Milaap plans to open a bank account in the host institute’s name through which the loans will be collected and disbursed. The money, once paid back by the borrowers, will again be lent out to the poor.
B school student societies like SportsCom, Dracula, CII – Yi, SIGMA, XLANC and SPICMACAY- XLRI chapter, have come together to make the event a grand success.
Popular Hindi playback singer, Benny Dayal, who has given hits like badtameez dil (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), lat lag gayi ( Race 2), daru desi (Cocktail) and kaise mujhe (Ghajni), among others will perform at the show. “Benny Dayal’s live show on July 28 at Tata Auditorium will be a fund raiser concert,” said a member of the Extra Curricular Student’s Affairs Council of the host institute.
This apart, hand shadowgraphy show, sand art animation show, stand-up comedy show by professionals from Canvas Laugh Factory and sporting events will be held during the fest. “The fest is not just about merry-making but also about coming together for a cause,” said a HR stream student of the host school.
